Ain't it just like a Republican to worry about something that's inconsequential?

Justin Humphrey, a Republican member of Okla homa's state legislature, is proposing a bill that is to prohibit young public school students from dressing up or acting like a cartoon animal. Humphrey is not totally wrong. A problem exists, and something ought to be done about it, to be sure, but a "Thou shalt Not" written into the state law is not the answer.

Here's my take on it: Teenagers are looking to the furry fandom for acceptance that they feel cannot be had elsewhere. They could be in for disappointment. From what I hear, the fandom has its own problems with elitism and bullying, same as the world at large. There is no guarantee this fandom won't make them feel worse.

My advice is to pay attention to their feelings. If they intend to get their paws wet, start them with harmless drawings of a fursona in art class. Make sure you help them to feel comfortable with their humanity. After all, I'm in the fandom because it helps me to see my
